DUA SEEKING PROTECTION
Why is this dua important?
Imagine a friend who pretends to be your friend in front of you but speaks ill of you behind your back. Or a person who appears pious in public but sins in private (if done without remorse).
Hypocrisy (nifaq) and bad character are silent destroyer of relationships and trust.
Prophet Muhammad (saw) himself asked Allah for protection from these traits - so shouldn't we do the same?
The Dua
Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to say the following dua for protection after every Salat:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشِّقَاقِ وَالنِّفَاقِ وَسُوءِ الأَخْلاَقِ
Allahumma inni a'uzu bika minash-shiqaqi wan-nifaqi wa-suw'il Akhlaq
[Sunan an-Nasa'i 5471]
The Dangers of Hypocrisy & Bad Character
Surely hypocrites will be in “the lowest depths of Hell.”
[Surah An-Nisa 4:145]
Aisha (ra) narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: "The most despicable among people in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome."
[Bukhari 2457]
