BENEFITS OF TASBEEH FATIMA

benefits of tasbeeh fatima

When Fatima (r.a) came to the Prophet (saw) exhausted from household work, she hoped for a servant. Instead, he (saw) gave her something greater: a remembrance to recite before sleep that he promised would outweigh any worldly relief.
This is Tasbeeh Fatima. A Sunnah born from hardship, carried across generations, and available to every Muslim today.

The Virtue of remembering Allah

The Prophet (saw) said:
"Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah."
[Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3375, Hasan]

He (saw) said that before sleeping they should recite:

The Tasbeeh of Fatima (r.a)

سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ ٣٣
الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ ٣٣
اللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ ٣٤

Subhanallah (33 times)

Alhamdulillah (33 times)

Allahu Akbar (34 times)
 [Sahih Bukhari 3705, 5362; Sahih Muslim 2727]

The Prophet (saw) informed them that this remembrance would be better for them than having a servant.

When to recite Tasbeeh Fatima?

Tasbeeh Fatima may be recited in two well-known Sunnah contexts:

1. Before Sleeping

This is the original occasion on which the Prophet (saw) taught Tasbeeh Fatima to Fatima (r.a) and Ali (r.a), recommending that it be recited before going to sleep.
 [Sahih Bukhari 3705, 5362; Sahih Muslim 2727]

Before Sleeping the count is SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times.

2. After the Obligatory Salat

The Prophet (saw) also taught Tasbeeh, Tahmid, and Takbeer after the prescribed prayers. Reciting SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar after Salat is among the authentic azkar that help a believer remain connected to the zikr of Allah throughout the day.

[Sahih Muslim 597]

After Salat, the count is typically SubhanAllah 33 times,  Alhamdulillah 33 times, Allahu Akbar 33 times completed with La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadeer
[Sahih Muslim 597]

Benefits

1. A Sunnah taught directly by the Prophet (saw)

Tasbeeh Fatima is among the remembrances personally taught by the Prophet (saw) to his beloved daughter Fatima (r.a) and her husband Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a), making it a cherished Sunnah.

2. Better than having a Servant

The Prophet (saw) described this zikr as better than receiving a servant, highlighting the immense value of zikr and its impact on a believer's life.

3. A means of staying connected to Allah

Reciting SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar regularly helps keep the heart attached to the remembrance of Allah and encourages consistency in worship.

4. Part of the authentic azkar after Salat

The remembrance of Allah after Salat is among the established Sunnah practices that help complete and beautify a believer's daily worship routine.

Scholars sayings on Zikr

Ibn al-Qayyim wrote in Al-Wabil al-Sayyib:
"There is no doubt that the heart oxidises, just as copper and silver oxidise. Its polishing is zikr. The oxidation of the heart comes from heedlessness and sin, while its polishing comes through repentance and remembrance of Allah."

Just as a mirror loses its shine when neglected, the heart can become clouded by distractions and forgetfulness. Acts of remembrance such as Tasbeeh Fatima help keep the heart spiritually awake and mindful of Allah.

Tasbeeh Fatima reminds us that the Prophet (saw) did not always respond to life's difficulties by increasing worldly comforts.

Sometimes he guided his sahabah and family toward acts of worship that strengthened the heart, nurtured gratitude, and brought lasting benefit in both this world and the Hereafter.

A few moments spent saying SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar can revive a Sunnah beloved to the Prophet (saw).
