Syed ul Astaghfar
SYED UL ASTAGHFAR
When Prophet Adam(A.S) was sent to earth, he sought forgiveness from Allah through Astaghfar.
Astaghfar is the key to success in this world and the Hereafter. And that is why all the Prophets have told their Ummah to seek forgiveness from Allah through Astaghfar.
Whenever Prophet Muhammad (saw) finished his Salat, he would ask for forgiveness by saying, 'Astaghfirullah' (3 times) and then he would say: “Allahumma Antas-Salamu, wa minkas-Salamu, tabarakta Ya Jal-Jalali wal-Ikram.” [O Allah! You are As-Salam (giver of peace), From You is all peace; Blessed are You O! Lord of Glory and Honour].

Allah says in the Qur'an:“And (commanding you) Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace (i.e. the one who helps and serves needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words). ”
[Surah Hud, 11:3 ]
Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus(r.a) narrates that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, "The best dua for seeking forgiveness
is Syed ul Astaghfar. "
Allahumma Anta Rabbi, laa ilaha illaa Anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika
mastatha'tu, a'uzubika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u laka bini'matika
'alayya, wa abu'u bizambi faghfirli, fa innahu laa yaghfiruz-zunuba
illaa Anta
O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no true God except You.You created me and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from all the sins I have committed. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Forgive me, because no one has the power to forgive except You.
Prophet Muhammd (saw) said, "Whoever recites Syed ul Astaghfar kalimat in morning with firm belief and dies on the same day ( before evening), he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah; and, whoever recites at night with firm belief, and dies before the morning then he is from the people of Jannah."

Benefits:
- If one makes a habit of reciting Syed ul Astaghfar, atleast once daily after every Salat, Allah will forgive all his sins.
- Whoever recites Syed ul Astaghfar, his heart becomes inclined towards righteous deeds, his heart becomes happy with the worship of Allah.
- Allah bestows peace in the hearts of those who recite Syed ul Astaghfar, so that they may be more firm in their faith.
